I’m an italian illustrator, cartoonist and graphic designer.
I studied at the School of Fine Arts in Bologna
and at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Desing dept.
MARINA GIRARDI
Marina Girardi è autrice di storie a fumetti e canzoni illustrate.
É nata tra le montagne bellunesi nel 1979 e si è diplomata al corso di Fumetto e Illustrazione all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna.
Ha accompagnato lo studio del disegno con l’attività di educatrice ambientale in una fattoria didattica.
Per Comma 22 Editore ha pubblicato Kurden People, Premio Komikazen Fumetto di Realtà 2009, tradotto in Francia per L’Agrume Edition, Appennino-2010- e Tutta discesa -2013- il diario disegnato di un viaggio in bicicletta a cavallo dell’Appennino centrale. Nel 2011 ha pubblicato la raccolta di disegni Dalle Tane per Giuda Edizioni. Esce nel 2015 Capriole, il diario a fumetti della sua infanzia, per la casa editrice Topipittori, collana Gli Anni in Tasca.
Nel 2013 ha partecipato ai progetti La mia valle e Pasubiana, curati da Giulia Mirandola, realizzando la mappa disegnata di una regione delle Alpi Trentine e un libro d’artista sul monte Pasubio. Nel 2014 ha preso parte al progetto Torino e Le Alpi curato da Stefano Riba, con un lavoro ispirato a un trekking di tre giorni attorno al Monviso.
É stata ospite, nel 2013, del Festival di Carnet de voyage di Clermont Ferrand.
Dal 2010 conduce laboratori di fumetto negli istituti artistici superiori sui temi dell’intercultura e del pacifismo.
Gira l’Italia insieme a Rocco Lombardi con un progetto che si chiama Nomadisegni: laboratori di fumetto itineranti per grandi e bambini e uno spettacolo di cantastorie per raccontare le storie nascoste dentro al paesaggio. Hanno collaborato, tra gli altri, con il MART di Rovereto e l’Università di Architetture di Firenze.
I’m a visual artist, songwriter and author of comics and illustrated books.
I produce paintings and illustrations inspired by landscape, people and stories.
I created a project called Nomadisegni [nomad drawings/signs] where I collect stories discovered while exploring the country-side and meeting the people who live there. This includes itinerant (walking or cycling) drawing and storytelling workshops. These illustrated tales become the songs I perform in my storytelling show.
My first book, Kurden People (Comma 22 Editore) was awarded the Komikazen Prize at the International Reality Comics Festival in Ravenna (Italy) in 2009, and was translated into French.
For the same publishers, in 2010, I published Appennino, a sketch book about a little mountain village where lived, and, in 2013: Tutta Discesa, a graphic novel about a bike trek along the Appenine mountains in Italy.
In 2015 I published Capriole a picture book for Topipittori, an Italian publisher specialised in illustrated books for children and young adults.
In 2013 I created an illustrated map and guide book about the Italian Trentino Alps and was a guest at the Festival of Carnet de Voyage in Clermont Ferrand (France).
In 2014 I took part in the Turin and the Alps Festival with a work inspired by a three-day trek around mount Monviso.
Since 2010 I have held comics workshops in art schools on the themes of clutural exchange and pacifism.
LITTLEPOINTS…
Stella “littlepoints…” Venturo è nata a Roma nel 1981.
Dopo aver terminato il liceo classico nel 2000, si diploma come illustratrice nel 2005 presso la Scuola Internazionale di Comics. In questo contesto approfondisce e scopre diverse tecniche (acquarello, incisioni su linoleum, serigrafie, inchiostri…) anche se, con gli anni, si troverà a prediligere la pittura acrilica su tela e legno. Fondamentali saranno gli insegnamenti degli artisti e professori Francesco Graziosi e Roberto Petrongari.
Nel 2007 si unisce alla direzione editoriale di GRAB Magazine – pubblicazione trimestrale di street-art, illustrazione, fotografia e grafica – portando avanti la rivista sino al 2011. Molte le esposizioni che, parallelamente al progetto editoriale, la vedranno partecipe, tra le quali il Salon International d’Art Contemporain ART MONACO 2010.
Con le collettive “Surreàlisme des femmes” e “Surreàlisme des femmes… le retour” curate da Togaci e Mauro Tropeano, presso l’HulaHoop Gallery di Roma, si avvia in modo significativo il suo percorso pittorico-artistico ed è proprio sotto la curatela di Togaci che si inaugura poco dopo la sua personale dal titolo “Corpus non Animum Confligetis -Colpirete il corpo ma non le idee” che sarà successivamente replicata nel 2013 nella GalleriaStudio44 di Genova, la città dove attualmente vive.
Nei suoi lavori prendono vita ambientazioni surreali e sospese in cui i soggetti rappresentati sono protagonisti di storie delle quali si avverte un passato e si prospetta un futuro. La minuzia dei dettagli immortala istanti di realtà improbabili e proprio per questo ammalianti. I tratti puliti e la scelta dei colori, insieme solari e cupi, trasmettono una soavità fragile sorretta da un qualche mistero fatto di curiosità, più che di tenebra. La sua passione per i giochi di parole, l’uso di diverse lingue compreso il latino, la stimola spesso a intervenire sull’immagine creando parallelismi tra la forma visiva e il contenuto delle parole stesse apportate sulla tela.
Attualmente fa parte della direzione di COSTOLA, antologia di racconti illustrati e il progetto “littlepoints… Mini Solo Show”, una mini-personale itinerante, fatta di quadri, stampe, linocut, shopper e cose mini in generale…
Stella “littlepoints…” Venturo was born in Rome in 1981.
After finishing Classical High School in 2000, she attained a diploma in illustration at the Scuola Internazionale di Comics. There she studied and discovered different techniques, such as watercoloring, linocuts, screen printing and inking. As the years passed by, she started to favour acrylic painting on wood and canvas, inspired by the teachings of artists and art professors such as Francesco Graziosi and Roberto Petrongari.
In 2007, she joined as one of the editorial directors of GRAB Magazine, a three-monthly magazine focusing on street-art, illustration, photography and graphics, taking a leading role in the magazine’s development until 2011. Alongside this project, she participated in many exhibitions, such as the Salon Internationale d’Art Contemporain ART MONACO 2010.
The collective exhibitions “Surreàlisme des femmes” and “Surreàlisme des femmes… le retour” at the HulaHoop Gallery in Rome, curated by Togaci and Mauro Tropeano marked the beginning of a new artistic path for Littlepoints. Shortly after completing them she launched a new personal exhibition titled “Corpus non Animum Confligetis” underthe care of Togaci and it was repeated in 2013 at the GalleriaStudio44 in Genova, her current home town.
In her works surreal and suspended settings come to life and her characters are the protagonists of stories where a past can be sensed and a future may be predicted. Her attention to detail crystallizes moments of reality that are as enthralling as they are improbable. The clean traits and the choice of colours, sunny and somber at the same time, transmit a frail and smooth suave, held together by curious rather than dark mysteries. Her passion for puns and the use of different languages (her favourite being latin) stimulates her to directly intervene on her images; creating a parallelism between the visual form and the significance of the words on the canvas.
Currently she is part of the editorial director team of COSTOLA, an anthology of illustrated short stories. She is also working on the “littlepoints… Mini Solo Show”: a mini-personal, nomadic exhibition with paintings, linocuts, prints, shoppers and other minithings…
LUISA MONTALTO
I began to draw as a 10-year-old girl, in love with Japanese Cartoons and mangas. At 20 I debuted as an artist at the First “Happening Underground” in Milan and at the Comicon in Naples. During the years my paintings were exhibited in Rome, New York and Milan. I was an arts major and attended script and drawing courses with the major Italian illustrators, including Lorenzo Mattotti and Stefano Ricci.
I also worked as an Art Curator for 4 years. At the moment I’m working on a new solo painting exhibit and two Illustrated Books, one of which I’m writing.
VIRGINIA MORI
Virginia Mori was born in 1981. She lives and works in Pesaro and Milan. She graduates in Illustration and Animation at the National Art Institute of Urbino, improving her artistic imaginery and starting the realization of traditional animation shortcuts and Illustrations. The techniques she uses the most in her works are black bic pen on paper and pencil on paper. She takes part to various artistical events in Italy and abroad. In 2008 wins the “SRG SSR idee suisse” prize at Annecy Call for Project (France), managing to realize the award-winning animation short-cut called “The Play of Silence”, and the prize “Abbaye de Fontevraud” , which allows her to work on her next movie , “Haircut”, in the homonymous cultural centre in October 2011.The film is just finished and it has been selected in competition at Annecy Intarnational animated festival 2015.
In 2013 started to collaborate with Withstand Production , she realizes the illustrations for “WaltGrace’s submarine test”, John Mayer’s video directed by Virgilio Villoresi.
Nasce nel 1981. Vive e lavora tra Pesaro e Milano. Si perfeziona in Illustrazione e Animazione all’Istituto Statale d’Arte di Urbino, esperienza formativa che contribuisce a costruire e consolidare il suo immaginario artistico e che le permette di muovere i primi passi nella realizzazione di corti di animazione tradizionale e nell’illustrazione. Partecipa a diversi eventi artistici in Italia e all’estero.Nel 2008 vince il premio “SRG SSR idee suisse” ad Annecy Call for project che le permette di realizzare il corto di animazione “Il gioco del silenzio”, premiato e selezionato in diversi festival internazionali e nel 2011 il premio “Abbaye de Fontevraud” che le permette di lavorare alla progettazione del suo prossimo film nella residenza dell’omonimo centro culturale francese . Il film e’ stato appena finito di realizzare ed e’ stato selezionato in competizione al Festival Internazionale di animazione di Annecy 2015.
i suoi disegni a penna bic sono stati esposti in diverse collettive e personali, in Italia e all’estero.
Attualmente collabora con il collettivo Withstand , con cui ha di recente realizzato le illustrazioni del videoclip musicale “Walt Grace’s Submarine test” di John Mayer, con la regia di Virgilio Villoresi.
DARIA PALOTTI
Daria Palotti nasce il 3 marzo del 1977 a Pontedera. Diplomata all’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Firenze in Scenografia nel 2002 intreccia l’attività artistica con quella pedagogica, conducendo laboratori di pittura, modellazione di creta, carta pesta oltre che teatro e arti circensi, parallelamente alla produzione di opere pittoriche, manifesti, scenografie e sculture in ceramica e marmo. Segue per diversi anni un percorso formativo da illustratrice che la porta alla pubblicazione di 9 libri illustrati per bambini. Solo negli ultimi anni fa della pittura la sua attività principale esponendo in mostre personali e collettive.
Daria Palotti was born March 3, 1977. She graduated in “Accademia delle Belle Arti” in Florence in 2002. She followed a training path in illustration for children’s fiction and she has published six books for italian editors.
In recent years, the painting is her main activity, which leads her to exhibit in group and solo exhibitions.
She intertwines the artistic activitiy with educational activities conducting painting, clay or papier-mache modeling or circus workshop addressed to children.
DARIA PETRILLI
Daria Petrilli is an illustrator, born in 1970 in Rome (Italy)
After studying art, publishes as a freelance children’s books for Italy and abroad. occasionally also works in advertising. His illustrations are selected for further contest of the industry, including, Fiera di Bologna illustrators, Illustrarte Lisbon Biennial of Tehran. For four years, the mother of a child to whom he dedicates most of his work and of his time.
IRENE RINALDI
I’m Irene and I’m a freelance illustrator.
I collaborate with different illustrating publishing houses and with Italian and international magazines such as “L’Espresso” and “The New York Times” but I also love to take part in independent and self-productions projects.
Specializing in handmade print and etching a crucial part of my work is related to the study of engraving and printing craftsmanship, offering my personal interpretation through the creation of prints and short editions.
My work features in the book about contemporary handmade printing “Low-tech print” published by Lawrence King.
Taking from mid-century graphic design and from the strong graphic aesthetic of linocut printing but also inspired by screen printed poster-art I developed my illustration style, creating bold, colorful digital illustrations that reproduce the texture and feeling of handprinted artworks.
DANIELA TIENI
I was born in Rome in 1982.
I gradueted in Scenography at Rome University of Fine Arts and subsequently earned a master degree in Art Therapy.
I often collaborate with other artists developing projects, collective exhibitions and self-productions.
I’m currently working as a freelance illustrator for magazines and Italian and foreign publishers.
OLIMPIA ZAGNOLI
Olimpia Zagnoli lives in Milan in a house with kaleidoscopic floors.
Her style is characterized by soft shapes and chameleonic colors that she uses to create
bold illustrations, odd music videos and curious objects.
Her client list includes, among others, The New York Times, The New Yorker, La Repubblica,
Taschen, TIME, Google, Marie Claire, New York Magazine, Rolling Stone, Monocle,
Vanity Fair, Clinique, Air France, Yale University, The Guardian.
